Clinical Interest: The interface between early intervention programs, schools, and clinicians around children with special health care needs.  Developmental Screening and Surveillance.  Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, and other Developmental Disabilities.
Community Involvement: Dr. Okamoto is on the Council Management Committee for the national American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and is the incoming Vice-President for the Hawai‘i chapter of the AAP. The Special Parent Information Network honored him with the Professional of the Year award on April 21, 2018 in appreciation of his outstanding service to families of children with disabilities. He was presented with the Faculty Excellence of Preceptor Teaching Award by the JABSOM Department of Pediatrics on July 16, 2018 in recognition of his outstanding teaching of medical students.
