Community Involvement: Dr. Yamamoto is a co-section chief of the Pediatric Specialty Division. She works with the Pediatric Residency Program and John A Burns School of Medicine students. She is the Pediatric Rheumatology Rotation director which is offered as an elective for fourth year Medical Students and Pediatric Residents. Third year medical students on their pediatric clerkship may also rotate through her clinic. She and Dr. David Kurahara provide care for Pediatric Rheumatology patients at the Kapi‘olani Medical Specialists Clinics at Hale Pawa’a and the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children. She is also involved with the Pediatric Complex Care Clinic at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children. She is a co- facilitator for CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) for the State of Hawai‘i, which is sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Yamamoto is a board member of the Arthritis Foundation of Hawai‘i and serves in an advisory role for children with rheumatic diseases. She volunteers with the medical staff of the Special Buddies Camp.
