Community Involvement: Dr. Patel, as Professor of Pediatrics, is a mentor for JABSOM students, residents and faculty working on quality improvement/patient safety (QIPS) projects. She is a Co-chair for the GMEC Quality & Patient Safety Subcommittee. As the Chief Quality Officer of Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH), she leads HPH facilities and clinic efforts on patient safety and quality issues. She is a core organizer of the inter-professional Getting Stuff Done (GSD) program. She is active with national QIPS collaboratives, the I-PASS Handoff Study Group, and is a Society for Pediatric Research and American Pediatric Society member. Dr. Patel is passionate about bringing the patient voice to decisions small and big. She has a specific interest in structured communication at transitions of care and during Family Centered Rounds.
